McCandlish Lillard is pleased to announce that Sarah C. Aviles has been elevated to Principal. Sarah is a key member of the Firm’s Wills, Trusts & Estates practice group and works primarily in the firm’s Fairfax office.
Sarah assists clients with estate planning for financial and personal needs, probate avoidance, incapacity planning, business planning, and estate tax planning. Sarah focuses on special needs planning for clients who have beneficiaries with disabilities, including preparing special needs trusts and advising on needs-based and other disability-based government benefits.
Sarah has also represented many fiduciaries through the complex post-death trust and estate administration process, from insolvent estates to multi-million-dollar estates and trusts. She also represents prospective guardians and conservators of minors and incapacitated adults through the Court appointment and qualification process.

Sarah grew up in Fairfax County, Virginia. She received her J.D. from the William & Mary School of Law and her B.A. from the College of William & Mary. She is a member of the Virginia Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Fairfax Bar Association. Sarah was selected as a Super Lawyers® “Rising Star” in 2022 and 2023 and listed as “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business Magazine.
