Sebastian Safaei is an associate attorney at McCandlish Lillard. He focuses his practice on business and corporate law, intellectual property, and transactional matters, drawing on diverse experience representing clients and entrepreneurs in commercial agreements, mergers and acquisitions, entity formations, and executive compensation.
Prior to joining McCandlish Lillard, Sebastian practiced at Zell Law in Reston, where he structured and drafted commercial contracts, purchase agreements, licensing deals, and assisted entrepreneurs and startups with legal entity formation and corporate governance. Sebastianโs transactional background also includes supporting M&A deals through due diligence and document preparation, preparing disclosure schedules, and advising on Corporation Transparency Act compliance.
Sebastian earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where he focused his studies on business law and intellectual property. During law school, he was actively involved in the Entertainment and Sports Law Society, fostering further engagement in legal issues related to media and sports industries, particularly esports, video games, and content creation. He also provided trademark counseling to clients building their brands as a Rule 19 Student Attorney in the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Clinic. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Intelligence Analysis from James Madison University.
Sebastian has experience advising clients from a wide range of industries, including technology and culinary. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and is committed to delivering strategic, thorough counsel to help clients achieve their business and personal goals.
