Kathryn C. Swain
AssociateKathryn is an associate attorney practicing in the areas of civil litigation, estate planning, guardianships/conservatorships, estate administration, and elder law. Kathryn works primarily in the firmโs Fairfax office and represents clients across Northern Virginia. Prior to joining McCandlish, Kathryn clerked for the Honorable Daniel E. Ortiz in the Fairfax County Circuit Court.
Kathryn is a DC native who received her undergraduate degree from James Madison University, where she began developing oral advocacy skills through the universityโs Moot Court Association. She went on to earn her law degree from George Mason University School of Law, where she served as an Articles Editor of the George Mason Law Review and the Vice Justice of the Moot Court Board. While at George Mason, Kathryn also furthered her passion for legal writing through teaching classes to first-year students as a legal writing fellow.
Kathryn has been horseback riding for twenty years and enjoys riding her two horses in her free time. She also likes to spend time watching sports, cooking new dishes, and reading through the classics.
